                                                            -TALA-

Tala is a place that is characterized as a purok of barangay NAMATEC, SABANGAN, Mountain Province.  It is inhabited by warm and soft-spoken Kankana-ey people.  The simplicity of the place being located in a hill between moutains, where local fruits trhive puts grandeur and nostalgia to every citizen who might have been away for the reason of work.  The place takes pride as it shares the path towards Mt. Kalawitan. Most of the people are simple agriculturist in terms, because they get sustenance from agriculture.  Others are involved in carpentry and usually are out of the place due to work demands.  The yearly celebration of begnas coincide with the celebration of the new year.  Thus, on this time of year, most I-Tala are gathered to celebrate and enjoy the new year.  It's a celebration which tries to reconcile modernity and culture.
